1-2. Tyres & Tyre Pressure
Tread depth
Slide a 50sen coin into the tread. If the coin disappears past the edge, the tyre is legal. If you can still see the coin, the tyre is bald — ask for a swap.
Pressure
Most scooters want 28-30 psi front, 32-34 psi rear. Petrol stations have free air pumps.
3-4. Front & Rear Brakes
Squeeze each brake at walking pace. The bike should stop firmly without grinding or pulsing. If the lever pulls all the way to the grip, the pads are worn or the fluid is low — do not ride.
5-6. Lights & Horn
- Headlight (high and low beam)

7. Chain Tension & Lubrication
Wiggle the chain — about 2-3cm of slack is healthy. Rusty, dry, or sagging chains snap on highways. If it looks dry, ask for a quick spray of chain lube before leaving.

Look for the sight glass or pull the dipstick. Oil should sit between the min and max marks and look amber, not black.

10. Mirrors & Controls
Adjust both mirrors before riding away. Confirm the kill switch, choke (on older bikes), and side stand cut-off all work.
11. Personal Riding Gear
Even a 5-minute ride needs a helmet that fits. Reject any helmet with cracked foam, broken visor, or loose chin strap. Bring your own if possible.
